“Sabotage”, Beastie Boys

Beastie Boys Sabotage

I was not a fan of the Beastie Boys when this song came out, but I did enjoy the awesome video.

These days, I am definitely a fan. These guys had a great sense of humor, and their work was pretty consistent.  I once heard a black rapper talking about them and why they worked as a rap act, and he said that they were “rapping about white boy shit.”  Essentially, they weren’t trying to be something they were not.  Art is authentic when it comes from the personal experiences of the artist.  There is a lot of cultural appropriation in the world, but the Beasties really did work their own angle.

Beasties for life!
